Amber Portwood Lost 35 Pounds From Depression After Her Arrest For Domestic Violence
In the summer of 2019, the millionaire reality star was charged with domestic violence after she attacked her then-boyfriend Andrew Glennon with a machete. When Andrew, the father of her one-year-old son James, filed charges against her, to which Amber pleaded guilty to a felony count of domestic battery in October 2019.

While Amber's relationship with Andrew was over, her arrest incident left a big scar on her for some months. She suffered depression and extreme stress in the months following the event. Also, as a patient of bipolar and borderline personality disorders, Amber lost 35 pounds in three months and also suffered slight hair loss.
'I got into a really, really dark period for a couple of months,'Amber told US Weekly. 'I lost about 35 pounds in less than three months. My hair was falling out. When I say I went into shock, I literally, my body went in shock. I didn't sleep for almost two weeks. I had to get out of that state of mind.'
In 2018, Amber Underwent a Much Healthier Weight Loss
Before she faced domestic charges in 2019, Amber Portwood was already on her way to weight loss but in a much healthier way. She made a massive change to her diet in 2018, ultimately managing to lose 40 pounds in the process.

As mentioned in an article by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Amber started by cutting food items high in carbohydrate content and sugar. Also, the report noted that she avoided trans fats and processed food product at all costs, which became a significant factor in her weight loss. She focused on eating healthy organic food like vegetables and fruit, and other items rich in protein.
For physical fitness, Amber chose mixed martial arts to involve her body in exercise. Training with an expert trainer, Amber engaged in different training methods like krav maga and jiujitsu, which helped her body to be more toned and stronger than before. By combining appropriate diet and workout, Amber managed to lose 40 pounds in 2018.
