Scott Conant developed a passion for cooking at an early age and even took cooking classes at the local community college at age 11. At the age of 15, he enrolled in W.F. Kaynor Technical High School for culinary arts and then attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA).

'She had a big wooden board in the house that she would use to make cavatelli or orecchiette,' he told Food & Wine. 'I always remember those pastas, especially her cavatelli with broccoli rabe. It wasn't necessarily the flavor profiles, but it was really the spirit of the food that has always resonated strongly with me.'
While Scott was madly passionate about cooking, he did know that he needed a alternate career in mind just to be safe for his future. Because one never knows if the things will actually turn out in favor of them. He thought of being a baseball player if he could not make it as a chef.
