Grab all the details on the weight loss of the American basketball player Carmelo Anthony.
The American professional basketball player Carmelo Anthony plays for the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He's a ten-time NBA All-Star and a six-time All-NBA Team member in the league.
As a college basketball player, Carmelo Anthony played for Syracuse Orange men's basketball team representing Syracuse University. As a freshman, he won a national championship with the team in 2003. The same season, he also earned a reputation as the NCAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. The NBA star's been making headlines recently for losing significant weight ahead of the resumption of the NBA season. Here's how the 36-year-old put his lockdown free time to good use by dropping a significant amount of weight.
Weight loss is not a new topic for NBA players. In recent years, most of the league players are following a trend of shedding weight in the offseason, and this time it happened to be during the coronavirus lockdown. Just like the NBA superstar LeBron James lost the weight by cutting carbs and working out a lot in the offseason of 2014, Carmelo also followed the same path by changing his diet plan. He also went through intense workout routines. And for his recent lockdown weight loss, Carmelo did not do anything differently; he stuck to the same carefully planned out diet and exercise.

At the time, Carmelo was looking forward to improving his game-play playing for the New York Knicks, with a fit and healthier physique. 'Amazing people have been hired over there, and he wants to come in as the leader and a top-three player in the world, 'Carmelo's personal trainer Idan Ravin told the New York Post in 2014. 'If [he's] being meticulous, you should not just follow [his] word, but follow [his] actions.'
For the latest weight loss of Carmelo Anthony during the lockdown, he had a different motivation in mind this time. He felt necessary to get in shape to be a perfect fit for the position he was playing in for the team.

'For me, I had that in the back of my mind, once coach told me the position, that I'd be switching back to the 3, 'Carmelo told Fox Sports. 'I kind of challenged myself to get down to that weight where I feel comfortable with playing the 3, comfortable running around and utilizing things I can do within our system from playing the 3.' And the NBA star set out to the goal of dropping weight, by adopting a 'very intense, very healthy diet' and altering his workout routines over the past few months in order to improve his speed and conditioning.
Carmelo's goal is to reach 230-235 pounds, as he told Fox Sports in an interview. He is happy that he is motivated to do that to suit his current playing condition. 'So now it puts me back in a mindset of that from a confidence standpoint, knowing that I was able to get back to that, 'he said. 'On the court, I feel good, I feel healthy. I have a lot of clarity, too. All of that was part of the plan.'
