CM Punk was born on October 26, 1978, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. His father was an engineer professionally, whereas his mother was a stay-at-home mom. He is blessed with five siblings. His actual name is Phillip Jack Brooks.

Mike Brooks is Cm Punk's older brother, and Chaleen Lee Brooks is his younger sister. Since 1999, CM Punk has not communicated with his brother, Mike.

Brooks grew up in the Illinois town of Lockport. 'Lockport Township High School' was his high school. Punk debuted in the 'ECW Championship' in June 2006. He began his ECW career with a six-month unbeaten record, which ended when he was defeated by Hardcore Holly in a fight. During the ECW Championship tournament, Punk attempted to capture the championship multiple times but was defeated each time by Johnny Nitro, aka John Morrison.

 On September 1, 2007, he eventually defeated Morrison to win the 'ECW Championship.' Before losing to Chavo Guerrero, he successfully defended his title three times.
