According to Daily Mail, Cristiano Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez announced on Instagram Monday that one of their newborn twins had died.

"It is with great grief that we must inform you that our newborn son has died," the couple wrote. It is the most unbearable pain that any parent can experience."

"Only the arrival of our baby girl gives us the strength to survive this moment with some hope and happiness," they continued.

Ronaldo and Rodriguez thanked the doctor and nurses for their "excellent care and support," adding, "We are all grieved by this loss and humbly request privacy during this extremely difficult moment."

They concluded with a message to their son: "Our baby child, you are our angel." We shall always love you."

Cristiano announced on Instagram in October that he and Georgina were expecting twins. Our hearts are overflowing with love, and we can't wait to meet you #blessed."

The pair already has a daughter, Alana, and he is the father of twins Eva Maria and Mateo, as well as son Cristiano Jr.
