The Mexican international and national beauty pageant title winner, drag performer, actress, entrepreneur, and activist Erica Andrews (1969–2013) was Roxxxy's drag mother. Roxxxy later began competing in the drag pageantry system and went on to win Miss Continental Plus in 2010.

After the incident, Roxxxy Andrews got a new tattoo in honor of the 49 lives lost and 53 wounded in the attack. 'For 10 years this stage was my home,' he wrote on his Instagram. 'This club we helped build to what it was. We were family, we were a community. I started drag here! The memories will live on for ever.' The tattoo is of Pulse's logo with a red heartbeat line drawn through the middle.

Then Roxxxy Andrews lip-synced against Alyssa Edwards to Willow Smith's 'Whip My Hair' in the episode 'RuPaul Roast.' He ended up as a runner-up along with Alaska Thunderfuck 5000 in May 2013, during the reunion when Jinkx Monsoon was crowned 'America's Next Drag Superstar.'
