Apart from the losses from the pandemic, she had to deal with the allegations that emerged against her and the show. Because her 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' came under the accusation of running a toxic workplace environment.

Despite being the focal point of the widespread controversy, Ellen DeGeneres has managed to withstand it all. But it might not have been possible if it was not for her wife, Portia de Rossi. She's been the biggest supporter of her, providing her all the love and assistance she can give, through thick and thin.
Accusations by several current and former employees against 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' emerged last year and many wanted Ellen to be responsible to handle the problem. The controversy became a big scandal when three top producers of her show got fired. While Ellen was issuing a formal apology, Portia took to Instagram to express her support.
'I stand by Ellen,' Portia de Rossi wrote in one of her Instagram posts.
'It broke my heart; I couldn't have gone through everything I went through without her,' Ellen DeGeneres said of her wife, as per Yahoo! News. 'It was a horrible time in my life, and she was a rock. She kept me going and tried to help me put things in perspective.'
