Early Monday morning, on July 19, 2021, Keyshia Cole's mother, Frankie Lons, took her last breath. Keyshia's sister Elite Noel later confirmed that their mom died on her birthday due to a drug overdose after suffering from drug addiction for years.
Mother of two multiple times tried to get clean through various rehabs. She posted an Instagram video of her mother in recovery and talked about how arduous the journey had been back in 2018. She then wrote, 'Every time my mom relapse, it breaks my heart more than it's already been broken,' as noted by People.

'This was 2, 1/2 years ago. Worse pain ever, to see my mama in a body bag on her birthday! My heart so f—ing broke.' she wrote on Instagram. 'I'm hoping if any of u are dealing with a family member who's battling with drug addiction, that you, yourself, are learning how to cope with the struggle of it all.'
She added, 'And all the pain it brings to see a loved one constantly relapsing. See them go back to the streets Because that's what they're used to or would rather be. I really miss you! And I will always love u #FrankTheBank,' as mentioned by HipHopDX.
According to TMZ, the R&B singer's brother, Sam, said, 'Frankie overdosed at her Oakland home Sunday ... the same day she was celebrating her born day, when she took drugs while partying -- relapsing on what we're told was a long, hard-fought journey to sobriety.'
