As a senior in the high school, he was selected by the faculty as 'Triton of the Year,' the highest award given to a graduating senior. After graduating from high school, and then went to attend the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). From the university, he graduated as a Communication Studies major in 1995. He also studied acting afterward, as he attended the Beverly Hills Playhouse acting school.
