Center-back Aymeric Laporte's 82-minute header helped in securing the victory for Pep Guardiola's team. His side has been dominating this competition past four years, 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20, and now 2020–21. The club is now at level with Liverpool's record of eight League Cup titles.
Guardiola has bagged first of the possible three trophies he could win this season. His nearly-guaranteed Premier League title just leaves him worrying for the Champions League, of which his team is in the semi-finals.

The game also had fans in the stadium this time. About 8,000 people got to see Manchester City win against the North London club Tottenham Hotspur.
'It [having fans] is much better, it's not full but it was a good noise and celebrating with them makes it much better,' Pep Guardiola told Sky Sports after the game. 'Today we are incredibly happy to win the title, four in a row in this competition but especially, in the last 33 games, we've won 30. This is amazing.'
