Messi is now the top scorer in La Liga with 23 goals so far.

With his 23 goals in La Liga this season, he's the top scorer in the competition so far. He is trailed by his former teammate Luis Suárez, who's scored 19 goals for Atletico Madrid this season. And in 2021, Messi's been in top form, with 15 goals and 7 assists in 12 games, as per Bleacher Report Football.
Messi overtook Xavi Hernández (767) to become Barcelona's record appearance holder at 768. For the club, he's scored 663 goals and 287 assists to date, as per FC Barcelona's official website.

Other scorers for Barcelona in their game against Sociedad included right back Sergiño Dest, who also scored two goals, Ousmane Dembélé and Antoine Griezmann. For Real Sociedad, Ander Barrenetxea put an incredible attempt in the back of the net after going an incredible solo run.

The win takes Barcelona into second place in the La Liga table, with 62 points, 2 above their arch-rivals Real Madrid who are third with 60 points.
