Foltynewicz was selected in the first round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Houston Astros. Since then, he played in the minor leagues until he was called up to the Astros in August 2014. Mike Foltynewicz is currently married to his wife, Brittany Wortmann. The couple married in 2017 and shares two kids now. Mike and Brittany went to the same high school and had mutual friends, but they were never that close. They went their ways after high school, and after many years, they again met in the offseason going into 2015 when Mike got traded to the Braves.

Mike is very fond of his wife. 'She has been through the grind of the Major League season years with me,' he said in an interview with Atlanta Parent. 'She is the biggest sweetheart ever, and if she wasn't with me, I don't know where I would be now.'

On the other hand, Brittany never imagined she would marry Mike one day. 'I'm older than Mike, so my friend's siblings were Mike's friends,' she said. 'He was so baseball-oriented. He was always involved in that, so I never hung out with him outside of school.'

Brittany Wortmann is originally from Shorewood, Illinois. She worked as a paralegal, nanny, and bikini fitness model, but now she is a full-time mom. Mike Foltynewicz and Brittany share a son Jett Foltynewicz and a daughter Lola Foltynewicz. 'I've always loved children and anything related to home, 'Brittany said. 'I love socializing and going out, but I love making a home. It's a good combo for me with baseball.'

Amidst all her grueling responsibilities of dealing with household chores and raising kids, Brittany stays positive all the time. 'It's a lot of prepping and a lot of chaos, 'she said. 'It all depends on how you handle the chaos. You can take a positive attitude toward the chaos and get through it, or you can dwell on it and keep having a bad day with it. We don't get upset about the little things around here.' 

Foltynewicz underwent arm surgery in September 2016 to treat blood clots.
