Similarly, the Iron Man star once revealed to the Evening Standard, "We went to Scotland and married in a house we hired near Edinburgh, with about 10 people. It was a rainy Scottish winter." Connelly stated, "We've both had enough on-set relationships to know that they don't work and you need to walk away from them. But we began talking on the phone after we went our separate ways, in a slightly guarded way. I felt that there was something interesting going on, and it could perhaps lead to something else."

After that, the pair met at the 2002 Bafta Awards, and they got together almost immediately as they were both singles at that time. "It was the first marriage for both of us and both of us are rather old-fashioned. We went to Scotland and married in a house we hired near Edinburgh, with about 10 people. It was a rainy Scottish winter. After all my caution about marriage, I was proposed to, married, and had a child in the space of a year. I had never been happier in my personal life, and I felt things had finally clicked." Bettany explained to Evening Standard.

On September 11, 2001, Bettany told Larry King that he realized when he was finally in love. “Like so many people’s lives, in that moment, mine was changed forever. I spent two days trying to call this woman that I sort of barely knew. Finally, I got her on the phone and said, ‘I’m coming over, and let’s get married." Immediately after calling her, he moved to New York City to meet her. Moreover, they finally got hitched in 2003.

The 50 years old of age actor tells Larry King about his 9/11 realization “I was in Tuscany, shopping for groceries, and I saw this crowd outside a cafe, and I thought this must be a football match. I remember very clearly thinking to myself, ‘What are you doing?’ I realized I was in love. So I finally got her on the phone and said 'I'm coming over, and let's get married'. And that's really what happened. We had never dated."
