Virginia originated singer and rapper Pharell Williams canceled the upcoming Virginia Beach Music Festival after the local cops killed his cousin. According to Pop Culture, the main reason behind the cancelation of the concert from the rapper side was the lack of proper investigation regarding the case of his cousin's murder by one of the local police officers.

Many fans were eagerly waiting for the festival to happen as it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The festival was going to be conducted to minimize the racial tension, economic development, and making new opportunities for local businesses to have a broader market.

According to USA Today, on March 26, 2021, Pharell's cousin Donovon Lynch was killed by an officer who also belonged to the African-American community. In defense of the murder case, the respective police officer Solomon D. Simmons III stated that it was a self-defense case as there were already three shootings. The officer feared him and endangered citizens' lives because Donovon was pointing a gun towards him.
Pharell Williams didn't get the proper proof of his cousin's murder as the cop's body camera was off.

Although the related cop has given his statement about the incident, Pharell and his family are still not satisfied with the actual reason.
