Prince Philip, the husband of the Queen of the United Kingdom, has died at the age of 99.
Buckingham Palace has made an announcement that Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II's husband, has passed away. He was 99 years old.

'His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle,' read the statement released by the palace. 'The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.'
He was the longest-serving consort in British history. Before his last days, he'd returned to Windsor Castle on 16 March after a month in hospital.

Tributes are pouring from around the world, expressing the sadness on the passing away of the Duke of Edinburgh. British prime minister Boris Johnson paid his tribute from Downing Street.
'He [Philip] was an environmentalist and a champion of the natural world long before it was fashionable,' Mr. Johnson said, as per Sky News. 'With his Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme, he shaped and inspired the lives of countless young people, and at literally tens of thousands of events, he fostered their hopes and encouraged their ambitions.'

'We remember the duke for all of this and above all for his steadfast support for Her Majesty the Queen,' he added. 'Not just as her consort, by her side every day of her reign, but as her husband, her 'strength and stay,' of more than 70 years.'
