Find out all the details on the weight loss of the American bassist, singer, record producer, entrepreneur, and television personality Randy Jackson.
Randy Jackson is a prominent bassist, singer, record producer, entrepreneur, and television personality, famous as the longest-serving judge on 'American Idol.' He is also well known as the executive producer for MTV's dance competition series 'America's Best Dance Crew.' As a producer, Randy has won a Grammy Award.
The former American Idol judge has been struggling with his weight throughout his life. While Randy Jackson mostly weighed above the fit amount for most of his adult years, he'd taken some drastic measures since 2003 to lose weight. And now the bassist succeeded in dropping an incredible 114 pounds, which has been one of the greatest achievements in his private life. How was he able to achieve this? Let's find out.
Randy Jackson has inspired many people with his stunning 114 pounds of weight loss over the years. Just recently, he talked about his successful weight loss in an interview with People. 'For a long time you see me on TV, and people have noticed me in the past, and I was struggling with my weight, then I finally got it off by using some pretty drastic measures,' he said to the magazine in January 2020. He had undergone gastric bypass surgery in 2003.

But Randy did not just stop at the weight loss surgery, as he had already realized he needed to make a significant change in his lifestyle. While he was working as a judge for 'American Idol' in season 2, Jackson was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The diagnosis changed his life and his approach to how he lived his life.

In order for his own well being and healthy living, he worked with numerous fitness experts, nutritionists and mental health experts to lose 114 pounds. 'Managing type 2 diabetes also runs hand in hand with managing your weight, he said to New York Daily News. His new phase of life also encouraged him to co-found Unify Health Labs, which he says will help 'other people in their journey to get healthy — while sparing them the long, confusing search I went through.'
For every person who has begun to embark upon a weight loss journey, he or she must carefully consider the type of diet that is right for them. While an appropriate diet is essential, one more thing is equally important: how you think about your food. And Randy stresses this point to anyone who asks him for weight-loss advice.

'You have to change the way you think about food,' he says. 'You have to almost have a complete divorce break up … and start back bit by bit and find out the things that work with your body, and you also find out the allergies and really pay attention to how you feel.'
