'It was a giant jam session,' Shannon told People about her wedding ceremony with Gene Simmons. There were 400 guests at the event, and it was quite a huge celebration party too. Her daughter Sophie, 19 years of age at the time, served as maid of honor and even crooned the song for the first dance, Etta James’s 'At Last.'

Shannon and Gene's son Nick, 22 years old at the time, was a groomsman and also performed on stage. The family dog, Snippy, was the ring bearer at the wedding. 

Gene Simmons was very happy with how the wedding ceremony proceeded at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunset Boulevard. 'It was a great evening of music and fun,' he said.

The couple's children were also glad that their parents had decided to tie the knot after 28 years of being together. 

'After 28 years of two loose strings, our parents have finally decided to tie the knot,' son Nick and daughter Sophie wrote in a letter. 'Our Mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name and our Father’s life… well, it doesn’t change much.'
