Stuart Damon, who was best known for his role as Dr. Alan Quartermaine on ABC daytime drama for more than thirty years, passed away at 84. According to USA Today, the actor was battling renal failure for the past several years.

The heart-breaking news was confirmed by Frank Valentini, who was the executive producer of General Hospital. The Emmy-winning producer tweeted, "On behalf of everyone at #GH, I want to extend my deepest condolences to Stuart Damon's family and all who loved him. Stuart was an absolute legend of our industry and he'll be sorely missed."

General Hospital's cast Amber Tamblyn, who was in the role of Emily Quartermaine, tweeted that she is broken-hearted to hear of the passing of Stuart. 

Stuart played Amber adopted dad at General Hospital for seven years. The actress added that he was the most kind, wonderful, loving, supportive person. She said, 'Damon always made me laugh and made me feel safe on set. I love you, Stewy. Rest well now, my friend.'

Fans of loved series General Hospital are demanding to do something special in honor of Damon. Rein Negroni, a regular viewer of the show, thinks that the team should do a memorable performance as a tribute to him. Similarly, another internet user Sally Haas also feels that the team must honor the late actor.
