As per The Things, Taylor stated about her first experience meeting Shumpert. "I didn't like him at first," she said. "When I first met him, he had just gotten drafted. He was young and doing a lot. I was at a party. He was drunk and had his shirt off. It was just too much going on, baby."

However, when the NBA star suffered an injury requiring knee surgery, the singer postponed all her schedule to meet him. That's when rumors sparked, and it's been love since then.

The duo shared vows in rocking matching cranberry leather jackets. They have been a happy couple ever since then. In October 2017, the pair celebrated their first marriage anniversary.

In December 2015, the couple welcomed their first daughter Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert, Jr., into the world. Teyana Taylor took to her social site to explain how she gave birth to her baby girl in the duo's Cleveland home bathroom.

An emergency operator guided Iman Shumpert. Therefore, he helped his wife to give birth. Taylor stated, “She came out as a wonderful surprise to everyone! Not knowing I was in labor until I felt her heart. It took two ten-count pushes with my fiancé playing Dr, and she entered this world into his bare hands!"

Only after eight months of giving birth to their daughter did the Shumpert family appear in Kanye West's Fade music video. She showed off her washboard abs. They seemed to be beautiful family goals.

Taylor and Shumpert further welcomed their second daughter on September 8, 2020. They named their daughter Rue Rose Shumpert. “As if bug didn’t soften me enough… Rue—Rose to the occasion of melting my heart,” Shumpert captioned a picture after Rose's birth.
