With an estimated net worth of $850 million before his demise, Tony Hsieh was described as an 'extraordinary visionary' during his lifetime. He worked as the CEO of the online shoe and clothing retailer Zappos for 21 years before his retirement in August 2020. He was also a co-founder of LinkExchange, the Internet advertising network which he sold to Microsoft in 1998 for $265 million. According to the report, Tony Hsieh was overcome by smoke inside a shed attached to the $1.3 million-worth New London house that he'd purchased in August of this year for Rachael Brown. She is said to be one of his closest confidantes and a high-ranking employee in Zappos, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Rachel Brown got recruited into Zappos after the company shifted from San Francisco to Las Vegas in 2004, five years after it was launched. The same year, the company headed its first training team. Zappos website describes Rachel Brown as one of the 'women who've changed Zappos history.' 'She was asked by CEO Tony Hsieh to lead a team to teach all employees the company culture, in addition to answering phones,' the site wrote about her responsibilities that helped the company grow to the level it is today.

According to her bio on Zappos's website, the company executives trusted her to teach culture to the potential employees before the organization had core values. If someone was deemed fit for the culture, she was responsible for helping them succeed. Rachel Brown left the Zappos training team in 2010 and began to oversee the production of the organization's quarterly all-hands meetings.

Rachel Brown, according to her Facebook profile, is a native of Niantic, Connecticut. Apparently, she is also a prominent cellist known in the Las Vegas area. As per some sources, she performs with Nina Di Gregorio's Bella Electric Strings ensemble and with David Perrico's Pop Strings Orchestra, which headlined weekends for five years at Cleopatra's Barge at Caesars Palace before COVID-19 hit.
