When they met, Victoria was studying psychology at the University of Houston, but within two years, she dropped out to marry Joel, and following that, the seeds of her vocation for the ministry blossomed. Indeed, she left her University education to be with her beau. 

After Joel's father died, Victoria founded the Lakewood Church Women’s Ministry and became a co-pastor to the congregation.
