Yandy got married to Mendeecees Harris in 2015. The pair met in a show 'Love & Hip Hop: New York', since then the couple's been going strong.

In 2015, Mendeecees was sentenced to serve eight years in prison after being convicted of drug trafficking, and in January 2016, he began his sentence. Since then, he and Yandy have remained close, but the reality star has been fighting to get an early release.

Mendeecees has tried to get back to his family. In March 2017, the reality star's attorney argued her client didn't have a significant role in the drug ring, according to Page Six. However, prosecutors decided his part was big enough that he should serve out his full sentence.

Despite the rejection of his plea, Mendeecees seems to have a reliable support system thanks to his longtime love Yandy Smith. Although Mendeecees is no longer a cast member on 'LHHNY' due to his incarceration, Yandy has made sure to give him plenty of shoutouts on her Instagram page.

He then praised Yandy for being "perfect" and a great role model.

In an interview with People TV, Yandy said that Mendeecees would be on his way home soon, and finally, he became a free man on January 29, according to BET. It took four long years, but he's finally free.

In the People TV interview, Yandy had predicted he would be out before spring... and luckily for her, it looks like she was right.

I'll tell you guys this: My birthday is on March 19. He will be home before my birthday.

In the interview, Yandy noted that Mendeecees might not go straight home and that there was a chance he'd have to spend time in a halfway house.

Yandy Smith has shared the ups and downs of her relationship with Harris while raising their two kids and his son from a previous marriage.

she told Nicole. "Because I learned how to love Lil' Mendeecees first before I have my children. This is our modern-day family. There are so many people now, dare I say, that have more blended families than just pure families. In my community, anyway." Yandy spoke to VH1 about becoming a foster mom.

Since we wrapped season 8, I started the process of becoming a foster mom to a young lady, a young, amazing lady named Infinity. I met Infinity when she was in seventh grade, and now she's in tenth grade. She was a part of my mentorship program, and she just completely stands out.

Yandy also explained that her relationship with Infinity would be playing a massive part in her season nine storyline. "If you know anything about me," she said, "when it comes to children and babies, it's like, my heart."

Smith is undoubtedly a strong woman, from accepting her boyfriend's child from his previous relationship to staying strong when Harris went to prison to fostering a child. All that and she still manages to ace her work alongside giving her children ethical ideologies to grow up with.
