Corky Coker's father, Harold Coker, founded the company Coker Tire in 1958. It started as a local tire store and gradually grew over the years. When Corky took over the business, he expanded the product line and made it one of the most successful companies in the country. In the last five years of his ownership, the company was in rapid continuous growth. 

Coker Tire Company Inc. is currently the world leader in producing vehicle tires and motorcycle tires. It has distributors in more than 30 countries for brands like Firestone, Michelin, U.S. Royal, and BFGoodrich.

Corky retired from the company in 2014, and Coker Tire continued the business under the leadership of Wade Kawasaki, the company's president. Kawasaki was also responsible for overseeing the six companies and various other brands under the Coker Group. Corky sold the Coker Tire and Coker Group to the company's management team, backed by the private equity firm Irving Place Capital.

Corky Coker has his own Coker Museum, which has his personal collection of cars. The 13,000 square feet museum also houses a White Truck Dealership and serves as Coker Tire's inventory.

According to the website of the museum, it holds over 100 vintage cars, motorcycles, trucks, buses, and even three airplanes. Corky's collection of two of the three (known) Nyberg cars in existence is also located in the museum. They all belong to the personal collection of Corky Coker, and the museum often holds events to display them to the public. The museum's location lies in Chattanooga's Historic Southside.
