Former Actress Allison Mack to be Prisoned for 3 Years For NXIVM Case.

Former "Smallville" actress Allison Mack, 38, a high-ranking member of the cultlike group NXIVM, was sentenced to 3 years in prison. After serving her prison term and paying a $20,000 fine, Mack is required to have three years of supervised release.

Mack submitted a letter as part of the sentencing memorandum in which she apologized to people she has harmed by her actions. In the letter she wrote, she is sorry to those people whom she brought into Nxivm. She even said that "I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man."

In 2018 Mack was arrested with several other Nxivm leaders, including Keith Raniere, who was convicted of racketeering charges and sentenced to 120 years in prison. According to CNN, she pleaded guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy charges one month before Raniere's 2019 trial began.

According to court records, Mack recruited several women as her "slaves." She approached young women and advertised the group as a secret women's empowerment sorority.

Recruits to the group were required to provide "collateral," including damaging confessions about themselves and loved ones, rights to financial assets, and sexually explicit photographs and videos to prevent them from leaving the group or disclosing its existence to others prosecutors said.

One week before Mack pleaded guilty, she began cooperating with the government and sharing details about crimes committed and evidence, prosecutors said in their sentencing memo.

During Raniere's trial, one piece of information Allison shared served as "crucial" evidence: a recording of a conversation between Mack and Raniere in which the two discuss a "branding ceremony."

In an ABC News interview on Wednesday, one of Mack's victims said she served Raniere as "the most charismatic co-leader anyone could ask for."
