The construction of the project appointed the famous American actor and producer Matthew McConaughey as their Minister of Culture. Matthew, who is married to Camila Alves, during the time of the construction of the Moody Center, even tweeted a picture of a rough sketch of the stadium.

The stadium, which will host UT basketball games, graduations, concerts, and other events. During the inauguration ceremony, hundreds of people gathered at the stadium.

The Moody Center is set to replace the 42-year-old Frank Erwin Center at the University. The Moody Foundation donated an amount of $130 million to help build the arena. The stadium can be expanded to 15,000 seats and will also act as a venue for community events, touring concerts and shows. The construction of the stadium will make way for the future expansion of the University's Dell Medical School.
