Owens formed her online presence in 2015 as the CEO of marketing firm Degree180. She published numerous blog posts on the company website that mocked conservative Republican figures. 

In 2016, Candace planned to launch another website, SocialAutopsy.com. However, the site, which was intended to expose online bullies by tracking their Internet activity, was highly controversial due to the potential for privacy violations.

To punish Owens, Internet users began posting some of her personal information online. Despite the fact that she had no proof of who was behind the doxing attack, Candace blamed it on progressives involved in the Gamergate scandal. 

This earned her the backing of several prominent conservative figures who were also opposed to Gamergate. As a result of this incident, Candace declared that she had overnight become a conservative.

Owens was eventually recognized in conservative circles for her support for Donald Trump as well as her condemnation of liberal rhetoric on issues such as identity politics, systemic inequality, and structural racism. Candace is also known for her criticism of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Candace began uploading political videos to YouTube in 2017. She then launched the Red Pill Black website and YouTube channel to promote black conservatism in the United States.

On November 21, 2017, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk announced Owens' appointment as director of urban engagement. She was admitted to the organization after Turning Point was accused of racism. Candace later announced her resignation from the organization as Communications Director in May 2019.

Candace launched the Blexit movement in October 2018, a campaign to persuade African Americans to leave the Democratic Party and register as Republicans. She recalled how the word Blexit, a linguistic mash-up of the words "black" and "exit," came about almost by chance.

Blexit made headlines after Candace revealed that Kanye West assisted her in designing the campaign's logo. She claimed that West saw her original logo design and later redesigned it with vibrant colors inspired by his trip to Uganda

Owens' claim that West designed merchandise for the movement, however, was denied by the latter, who also stated that he never wanted any association with Blexit and has been used to spread messages that he does not believe in.

The Candace Owens Hour, which airs on PragerU's YouTube channel, is hosted by Owens. The non-profit organization creates videos on various economic, political, and philosophical topics from a conservative or right-wing perspective.

Many historians disputed Owens' assertion, pointing out that numerous contemporaneous sources from the Civil Rights era clearly show that such a strategy existed. Later, in 2005, Ken Mehlman, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, issued a formal apology to the NAACP, calling the strategy wrong. 

Candace opposes abortion and sees it as a tool for the "extermination of black babies." She is anti-feminism and has called the "Me Too" movement "stupid" and stated that she despises it. She supports same-sex marriage.

Candace was frequently involved in controversies, whether it was a disagreement with Mollie Tibbetts' cousin in August 2018.
