Dylan O'Brien faced a severe accident during the shooting of his movie Maze Runner. The actor fell from the moving car and was hit by another during the stunt scenes of that film's sequel, The Death Cure.

After the mishap, O'Brien was given simple first aid at the set, and then he was immediately shifted to the hospital. According to the Independent, Dylan needed to undergo reconstructive surgery as he had a concussion, a facial fracture, and brain trauma.

According to Cinema Blend, the actor broke most of the right side of his face. However, O'Brien thankfully recovered from the life-threatening incident. 

How Did The Accident Change Dylan O'Brien's Life?

Dylan O'Brien, 30, underwent reconstructive facial surgery. In an interview with USA Today, he revealed that he was not shaving for eight months. 

Teen Wolf cast O'Brien who faced a severe head injury didn't shave to tap into the emotional state for his American Assassin role Mitch Rapp, even letting his director Michael Cuesta know he was keeping the hair and beard.

Talking about how the accident affected O'Brien's life, the mishap put a break on his acting career for a while. He even accepted that he suffered anxiety and went through panic attacks after the short meet.

O'Brien revealed that he is checking his safety gear more aptly and is anxious about shooting scary scenes these days. The actor said, 

"Whenever I'm putting on a rig, I'm vetting every piece of that rig and much more. Even to this day, if I'm on set and I'm doing a stunt, if I'm in a rig, if there's some action going on, I am slightly irritable. There is a degree of anxiety in me that I don't think there's ever not going to be."

Through O'Brien's words, it seems the on-set accident not only gave him physical injuries but it affected him mentally too. And it isn't surprising at all; no one would be in their right mind after going through what O'Brien suffered. Nevertheless, he is ok now, doing great, and is more focused on his career and private life.
