'I wanted to be able to be a bit healthier to have more energy to keep up with them,' he told Life & Style magazine. Many people were saying he dropped excess body weight because he got 'Hollywood,' but the prankster dismissed those claims.
'Playing with my daughter, I sat down because I couldn't chase her anymore,' he relates the first time he came to be aware of his weight. 'And she said, 'Please Daddy. I love playing with you,' and I couldn't catch my breath. I just couldn't. I was heaving, trying to catch my breath and looking at my adorable little girl with her puppy dog eyes pleading with her father to play. And I said, 'No more!' He realized he weighed much more than he thought. 'Also, my clothes didn't fit me well. So, I decided to make a serious change.'
And after Joe came to a bitter realization about the state of his body weight, he decided to change his eating habits. He started to become more careful about what he ate and how much he ate. He maintained a carefully selected diet with the appropriate amount for his eating regimen and stuck to the routine.

By just changing his diet, Joe lost 40 pounds of body weight. 'That definitely helped with the energy as it forced me to eat more vegetables and fruits,' he says. 'I also stopped drinking calories. I would always drink iced teas and lemonades and sodas while filming. Now it's only water and coffee. But I think the biggest thing was portion control. I started eating literally half of my meals.'
The 40-pound weight loss brought immense change to Joe Gatto's health and lifestyle. He's proud of what he achieved and doesn't get tired of telling how it impacts him positively. 'It's been life-changing honestly. I feel amazing. This is all the result of just changing my eating habits,' he says.
