The guys may make fun of him for his ferret-like look and how they thought he was incapable of being admired by a girl. But despite the fun and games, boy did he show them.
Don't get it wrong though, James "Murr" Murray did get plenty of chances. Small changes on the show as part of various challenges that is — nothing concrete. Still getting embarrassment a number of times when it comes to dating the guys almost kept us thinking this day will never come.
Just over a year ago, Murr got down on one knee and asked his girlfriend, Melyssa Davies, to be his wife. It's as fantastical as it gets for the 'Impractical Jokers' star as being an author is something that really led him to his bride-to-be.
Murr has always, when relevant, boasted on the show of being a writer as his friends argue he's only written "a really long bad short story". It seems he did write a novel and, despite what Sal Vulcano said in early of the show, published it back in 2018.
Yeah, the guys aren't flattered by his manners either.

It was a stroke of chance that Murr met Melyssa Davies. But it may not be either. The two met at the launch party of his book, 'Awakened', back in June 2018, and both of them agree on the fact that they just clicked from the get-go. He has his authorial capabilities to thank for finding his fiancée.

"We hit it off that night immediately. We had immediate chemistry and our relationship was immediately different than any other I've had in my life," Murr told People after their engagement in August 2019. "It was the first time in my life that I felt like myself. Thank God I wrote that damn book!"
The Joker proposed to his girlfriend on August 30, 2019, with a 'Tiffany & Co.' solitaire round diamond, during a little picnic he set up for her outside the home they'd recently bought in New Jersey. Although it was not his original plan to propose, he found the perfect setting to do so and thus went with it.
"I set up a picnic and champagne and a Scrabble board. I took her there to sign 'documents' [regarding the house] — there were no documents to sign," he says. "And thank God she said yes."
The big day is yet to come.

It seems he wanted the special day to be on the Labor Day weekend that year when their plan to vacation in Turks & Caicos was canceled after Hurricane Dorian. The reason for the setting? It's the place he confessed his feelings for her months earlier.

"Melyssa and I took our first vacation together in Turks and Caicos, and that's where I first said I loved her many, many months ago," he continued. "So I was going to propose in the same spot, playing Scrabble, the same exact way I told her I loved her and spell out, 'Would you marry me?' " The Scrabble board hangs inside their home.
But he did pop the question once more, months before the unplanned engagement. And the fans knew about it. He'd filmed thousands of fans during their 'Impractical Jokers' tour asking Davies to marry him.
The day of the vacation is sort of an anniversary for the two.

"The fans kept it secret all this time," he's amazed it was even possible. "So I got to show her a video of probably 40,000 or 50,000 people asking her to marry me. It's literally fans from all across America, including Comic-Con, which is 20,000 people in one shot, asking Melyssa to marry me. I mean, every single audience raised their right hand and swore they wouldn't post it. They kept it secret for six months now!"
Since it was sudden even for Murr, his future wife was especially surprised but glad he got it over with because she'd been wanting to marry him for quite a while before that. "I am so myself around him," she says. "It's amazing."
Any fan would know the conditions Murr has gone through romantically, witnessing the many failures on the show. But it's not all bad. Although, consistently calling him "ferret-faced" and bringing up his crushes in the most embarrassing of ways was a lot to see from his best friends. Well, whatever to make fans laugh, right?
"This ferret face has a girl on his lips," his likely comeback.

For some examples, the time they made him admit he had a crush on his high school Spanish teacher with a lie detector in a first season punishment, the many times he's been mocked for his looks, and most popularly, the surprise interview he had to take with childhood his celebrity crush, Danica McKellar.

Don't worry, the two are great friends, no matter how awkward the interview went. There's also the time he had to pretend to be Tristin Mays' husband in one of those 'Sham Marriage' challenges, who'd agreed to go on a date with him a couple of years before if he found the $9 she hid somewhere as a child.

When talking of not all bad, the Season 3 finale punishment for Sal comes to mind immediately. The guys staged a wedding between Murr and Sal's sister Jenna Vulcano while tying and shutting Sal's mouth. Only it wasn't staged, so much as they really signed the marriage documents. They got it annulled later though.
Beyond the gags, he's finally caught the right one. The wedding was supposed to be this fall, but it seems, like everyone else's day, it might've been canceled. They'll have to make do with their dress up for the 'Sophisticated Weddings' magazine photoshoot.

The plan was for a wedding in Rhode Island, and he hopes the guys won't ruin it with another joke for the show. The chances are there, of course, as there was a plan like that for Joe Gatto's wedding before it was pulled back at the last minute. Fingers crossed on that one.
